Company will donate one percent of “We Are Still In” technology subscription projects to fund climate action.
Washington, DC – March 22, 2018 – Sparkfund announced today that it will donate one percent of the value of new technology subscription projects of any We Are Still In signatory to the Institute for Market Transformation (IMT). This new partnership allows Sparkfund to support its core mission of deploying solutions that make good business sense and are good for the planet by aligning it with IMT, a national nonprofit based in Washington, D.C., that works with policymakers, businesses, environmental groups, and other key stakeholders to provide market-based energy efficiency solutions to today’s climate challenges.
“We’re aligned with the We Are Still In movement, and this is how we can put dollars behind that commitment” said Angela Ferrante, Sparkfund Chief Marketing Officer. “Our technology subscription provides a low-friction option for We Are Still In signatories to act on their climate action pledges, and further catalyze action by supporting IMT in its mission to improve building efficiency.”
With building energy use currently accounting for more than one-third of U.S. carbon emissions, improving building performance is a critical pathway to achieving ambitious climate goals like those in We Are Still In. IMT is a leading expert on increasing energy efficiency in buildings to save money, drive economic growth and job creation, reduce harmful pollution, and tackle climate change.
“Buildings account for the majority of greenhouse gas emissions in many U.S. cities. To reduce this, we have to make it easier for property owners to evaluate, prioritize, and act on efficiency improvements,” said Cliff Majersik, Executive Director of IMT. “We are pleased to partner with innovators such as Sparkfund and leaders such as the signatories of We Are Still In to address climate change through more efficient buildings.”
