NEW BUILDING RATING WEBSITE OFFERS A FASTER, BETTER USER EXPERIENCE

Redesign improves the leading online resource for building energy benchmarking policies

Washington, DC–June 27, 2014–Today the Institute for Market Transformation (IMT) and the Global Buildings Performance Network (GBPN) unveiled the redesigned Building Rating, the premier global resource for information and analytics on policies regarding the rating, or benchmarking, of building energy use.

In its redesign, 4Site Interactive Studios streamlined the user experience so that users can find what they need quickly and with ease. Building Rating is now a fully responsive site, with a layout and navigation that adapts to a range of devices, from mobile phones to desktop computers.

"Building Rating has long been a trusted resource for real estate, government, and greenbuilding professionals to learn about policies around the world," said Cliff Majersik, executive director of IMT. "Now it has a site design and analytical capabilities to match its rich information. Longtime users will be pleased by this upgrade, and we hope the enhanced site will draw many new users, too."

Watch a short video demonstrating the site's key features.

Building Rating has four primary features:

Learn about a jurisdiction – An interactive map reveals the jurisdictions (cities, counties, states, or countries) focused on improving the energy and water performance of their buildings. Clicking on the map will take you to a page with detailed information about a jurisdiction’s specific policies or programs.

Compare policies – The site's interactive Policy Comparison Tool allows you to compare specific policy elements across multiple jurisdictions. You can export a policy comparison report as a CSV file that can be used in Microsoft Excel, or copy the report and insert it into a PowerPoint presentation.

Search for content – Use the site's search feature to find important documents, news articles, announcements, blog posts, and graphics. You can filter your search by Location, Topic, and/or Content Type for more refined results.

Recent updates – Find relevant news articles, blog posts, and announcements sorted chronologically.

"We are very happy to see the release of the redesigned Building Rating today," said Peter Graham, executive director of the GBPN. "With its new design and functionalities, it provides a leading online tool on building rating and disclosure policies worldwide, and complements the suite of GBPN Policy Tools for sharing  best practice building energy performance policies."

Building Rating remains free for any user to access. It is a joint initiative of two nonprofits that promote energy efficiency in buildings, the Institute for Market Transformation (IMT) and the Paris-based Global Buildings Performance Network (GBPN).
