OUR COMMITMENT TO PRIVACY

We place a high priority on protecting your privacy. This privacy policy was created in order to demonstrate our firm commitment to the privacy of our website users. This policy explains what types of information is collected by online properties of the Institute for Market Transformation (IMT), including www.imt.org; www.buildingrating.org; www.cityenergyproject.org; www.greenleaselibrary.com; www.greenleaseleaders.com; and www.landlordtenantenergypartnership.org, and how this information is used.

THE INFORMATION WE COLLECT

Individuals that sign up to receive IMT newsletters voluntarily provide us with contact information (such as name and email address). IMT uses this information for the specific, limited purposes for which it was provided. You may always “opt out,” either now or at any time in the future, if you do not wish to receive our messages.

IP ADDRESSES

IMT sites may use your IP address to help diagnose problems with our servers, to administer our sites, and for statistical metrics used to track website visitor traffic.

COOKIES

IMT sites such as IMT.org, BuildingRating.org, greenleaseleaders.com, and greenleaselibrary.com use cookies to generate aggregate web traffic data and help provide better services. They remind us who you are and your preferences for our website based on what you’ve done and told us before. Cookies let us take you to the information and features you’re particularly interested in. They are mainly being used on BuildingRating.org for the Policy Comparison Tool so that you can come back to the website and see your last search. They also let us track your usage of BuildingRating.org, so we know which parts of our sites are most popular. The “cookie” is placed in your computer and is read when you come back to our website. You can reject cookies or cancel them by instructing your Web browser accordingly.

HOW YOUR INFORMATION MAY BE USED

IMT may use your personal information to send email alerts to you and to send you our newsletter.  You may choose to opt out at any time by unsubscribing from our messages, which will cease all communications from IMT.

We may also use web traffic data to track visitors of our websites. This lets us see which of our features are the most popular so we can better serve our users’ needs. It also lets us provide aggregate data about our traffic (not identifying you personally, but showing how many visitors used which features, for example) to outside parties.

STORAGE AND RETENTION OF PERSONAL INFORMATION

Your information collected through IMT’s sites is stored and processed on servers in the United States. Users in the European Union should be aware that their data will be transferred to the United States and that the European Commission has not found United States law to adequately protect the rights of data subjects.  IMT takes reasonable precautions to ensure that all processing activities conducted on our behalf are compliant with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Under that regulation, EU users who believe their data has been misused have the right to lodge a complaint with their Member State’s supervisory authority.

Factual errors in your personal information, including out-of-date information, can be corrected by sending an email to imtweb@imt.org with a request for such a change that credibly shows our error.
